Daniel’s farewell
After more than a decade, and with a heavy heart, we say farewell to Dr. Daniel Gilbert, who shaped the institute sustainably ever since the beginning. From the very first day the Institute of Medical Biotechnology was became part of the FAU, Dr. Gilbert was eager to explore new fields of research and pioneered the area of Rapid Prototyping and High Throughput Screening at our institute. Soon his work group became popular and grew steadily, along with his responsibility and enthusiasm as supervisor. Through inspiring lectures, he managed to share and promote his interests with and to others. Today, we celebrate his great contribution to the development of the MBT and sincerely thank him for his strong efforts. During the years, he and his group have conceptualized, designed and developed numerous stand alone systems to study neuronal mechanisms, homeostasis, cell development and disease (e.g. ToxFinder and XCell). Despite the hard feelings, we are also utmost grateful and happy for him to have found a most suitable position in industry, where he can continue pursuing his passion in research and development and wish him and his family all the best.
