Virtual Laboratory
MyoRobot anatomy model introduction video
As one of our engineering pillars of the project, the MyoRobot anatomy model was inspired by digital anatomy teaching concepts. Similarly, our MyoRobot anatomy model allows to user to disassemble the device down to its very core and familiarize themselves with the engineering concept behind its design in a yet non-existing interactive immersion. While medical students regularly build there anatomical knowledge on such digital application to a major extent, engineering and life science students were still expected to learn manufacturing designs from explosion drawings, 2D charts or static 3D models. With this approach we hope to contribute to a better understanding of good manufacturing design and augment the academic education of young life science and medical engineers.
Wet Lab experience impression (outdated)
Transforming a wet lab into the virtual space represented a delicate challenge for us, and probably for others to have tried this, too. The reason is simple: there are countless moving parts that must be animated and multiple degrees of freedom to account for, such as the freely adjustable volume of a pipette. Therefore, digitizing pipetting tasks often suffers from coarse simplifications that obstruct a ‚real-feel‘ experience. While we are constantly trying to optimize this experience for all users, we too had to compromise on few detailed aspects, but have put in incredible efforts to create an experience which is as close to the real lab scenario as possible.
The holistic edu-game experience (in progress)
While we already created a solid foundation to build upon, a central aspect to resonate with student expectations and thus, for the success of this teaching approach, is to merge the existing content into a single engaging edu-game. This represents a mammoth task that we strive to accomplish in the future. However, the video below displays a teaser of how such a holistic vLab experience could look like.
